How to remove Wee smell

Re: wee smell
Asked by josierm

Question:

hi minti mums,

on thursday my daughter had a busy morning, fell asleep on the couch and wet herself. problem is, i cant get the smell out of the couch and i am having a

house full of visitors tomorrow.  its a suede couch and i have tried giving it a really good clean with a soaked towel and detergent and spraying it with oust/clean and pure.  any ideas as to how i can get rid of the wee smell.

thanks.

My Advice:

Carb Soda!!!  Can't recommend it highly enough.  Make sure the couch is completely dry, then cover with a  thick layer of carb soda, and gently massage into fabric.  Leave it to absorb smell for about an hour, then vacuum it off.  The smell should be gone; if not, repeat again.

Carb soda was a life saver for me with my first baby who had extremely bad refulx.  Everywhere we went he threw up, so I was constantly dusting people and furniture with it.  Depending on the severity of the smell several applications may be needed, but it is really cheap to buy so not a problem.

Many commercial scented products either mask smells temporarily, or make them worse!

Re: How to remove Wee smell

thanks. already tried the vinegar this time, and it worked, but will try carb soda for other things next time.  i agree that commercial products make it smell worse (the oust just made it smell like wee and toilet spray).
