Question:

Hi, my hubby came home last night and asked me to make a gift basket for his boss this year....lm stuck on what to put into it....the family is 2 adults and 3 teenagers...anyone have

any ideas?

Hugs Heather xo

My Advice:

Hey there Heather! What a great idea your husband has for making a gift basket! I think it's much more thoughtful than buying a pre-made one from the store.

First of all, you mentioned 2 adults and 3 teenagers. So lets break it down and make sure that you have at least one thing for each family member, and something for them all to enjoy.

I'm just going to list of some ideas:

Husband/Boss - Ground gourmet coffee, Soft Cheeses, Olives, Wine, Salted or Roasted Nuts, Biscotti, Shortbread Biscuits, Aftershave, Socks, Tie
Wife - Soap, Bodywash, Scented Candles, Wine, Chocolates,Potpourri, Perfume, Coffee Mug, Socks
Teenager Female - Hair Accessories, Pancake Mix, Box of Sugary Cereal, Bottle of non-alcoholic Wine, Deoderant, Bodywash, Pen set (school), Socks
Teenager Male - (add in most of the above), Aftershave, Socks,

A really clever thing to do with gift hampers is either make or purchase mini Stockings or just a pair of socks, and fill the stockings with something special for each family member. Then just have the rest in the basket.

If your feeling extra creative why not head done to the local store and pick up some cheap baubles (round ornaments) and craft paint. Create a personalised bauble for each member and add the year on the back. When filling the basket add these little gems to a base of tinsel. The end result should look amazing! I personally don't like wrapping baskets up with cellophane, but feel free to do so.

Hope this helps you out! If you can post me a picture so I can see how great they look!

Some great gift giving ideas here...thanks for sharing. I like the personal touch of the bauble with the year painted on them.

Some lovely choices here... I never thought of pancake mix as something to add, but hey, why not?  I agree with the no cellophane thing, it's adding extra plastic to the environment, your basket idea is making me hungry!
