When the family pet gets dangerous |

When the family pet gets dangerous although hard and extremly heart wrenching you have to have them removed from the home. My pet wasn't the typical dog that just started nipping at the kids and then progressed further alothough we did have a dog many years ago that did have
to be put down.
Mine was a cow or steer would be the correct term he came here when he was a calf and was hand reared by me because he was bought here from a dairy and was spared and was given to another cow who's calf had died but she rejected him so I got to feed him every morning and every afternoon. We had him for 4 years he was the most funniest cow he had real character he would call out for his mollases, call out when his tail got stuck in the fence and as soon as he saw my car come in the gate he would be there to greet me.
Recently however he got an attitute and as he was very large now you had to be weary when he was around as he would give you a nudge. Then he chased my daughter, then my husband and we discussed should we get rid of him. I couldn't make that decision right away until one day I went to give him mollasses and because he was the last to get it he was not happy.
I was near the gate and I just saw something out the corner of my eye here he was shaking his head at me and then in full charge he came at me had I not spotted him when I did I would have had a horn through my back I luckily made it under the fence in the nick of time with him hitting his head on the fence trying to get at me.
What I am saying is no matter how much you love your pet common sense has to come first I should have sent him away weeks ago, it was lucky no one was seriously injured. You just have to make that desicion and it is hard believe me. I wouldn't even go outside when he was put in the truck and what made it worse my husband said to me 2 days later I was waiting for your phone call on the way to the meatworks and had you called I would have bought him home.
But even so I had to be realistic even if he did come home we would still have the same problem and my husband also said remember he has had 4 good years because on the dairy they would have put him down because he was a male and they don't need them so that was another way of looking at it.
As I mentioned before we had a dog when the kids were little and he got a bit snappy and then started chasing the mail lady and he had to be put down ,sometimes you have to make these desicions even though it is hard. When your family or anyone around an animal like that is in danger this is the only choice.
If your kids are young and you live in town and you have to remove a pet from your home you could tell them that he has gone to a farm because he needed a lot of space to run around if it is a dog. My kids are teenagers so the fully understand the situation.
