Fatherhood - 4 simple ways to make the most of the weekends!

Ravenheart by Ravenheart Talking(January 2009) (rank 91st)

Here's 4 simple activities you can do with your children on weekend when you have them in your care.

  • Take your child/ren to boy/girl scouts or swimming lessons or karate lessons… anything like that. When they get older they will remember that Dad took them
to these fun regular activities and you will be amazed at how much you will enjoy watching and helping your child learn!

  • Actually cook meals with them or for them, don’t become a maccas dad! Kids love cooking with you helping them and they will enjoy the meal and the time spent making it much more if you do it together!

  • Make your own traditions / rituals. For eg, one a month have a movie night or dvd night, or always have a special bacon and egg breaky once a fortnight. It doesn’t have to be expensive or hard work. The main this is making it reliable! Kids need routine and they need to know that they can rely on you for even the smallest things! If you make plans with your kids stick to them!

  • Stock up on paint, chalk, Texas and paper. You can do drawing / painting with your kids and display their artwork on your fridge! Have toys and arts and crafts at your place so they don’t have to bring things with them or be stuck watching TV.

Re: Fatherhood - 4 simple ways to make the most of the weekends!

the most presious memories I have with my dad are the cooking dinner. I used to also cook him rock cake for work. Playing at my nana's in her garden with the ball and frizbe. drawing pics for Dad for work. fixing his old holden ute that he had done up (yet it was always breaking down LOL)

I loved going and seeing dad (I still do. LOL)

Great advice

Re: Fatherhood - 4 simple ways to make the most of the weekends!

I have to admit my Dad did everything he could to make my life somewhat normal (too bad he didnt see the abuse i was getting from mum) he also took mum to court a few times to get me. LOL (he still does alot now I am married)

I do feel so bad that some fathers dont care about their kids. i wish they would cause its the kids who miss out on that special thing between a father and child.

hey at lest your girls have your other half now, I bet he is wonderful with them.
