Question:

Ok this may seem completely ridiculous to some of you but oh well its worth a try. I am nearly 16 weeks pregnant with my 1st and recently i have been seriously freaking out about

going into labour. Its almost like im telling myself i cant do it etc. Also i think part of it is due to the fact i still aint got my head around being pregnant as i dont feel preggers apart from the hyperemesis. Is this normal and if anyone could message me some relaxation techniques i would really appreciate it. I think im just going mad. My oh says dont worry but its not him thats going through this and i have a low self asteem anyway.

My Advice:

Hi,

I felt the same way the first time.  It was much later though when I started to think about that.  Today, I'm 28 wks and I looked in the mirror holding my belly.  It's huge.  The thought ran through my head that it has to come out. AHHHHHHHHH!  Ok ok women have done this for thousands of years and we have so much more than they did.  It's natural to feel a little uneasy.

Here is what I do to calm down.

1. Deep breating

I lay down, on my side because my stomach is huge.

Think of something really nice and safe and joyful.

Breath in and hold it for 10 seconds

Release the breath and then start all over.

I do this for about 10 min.

2. I also take a walk everyday with my 8yr old.  This is suppose to help with delivery.  Not to mention getting great fresh air  and a little sun can help you feel more joyful.

3. Reading can be relaxing as well.

4. Drinking some chamomile tea before bed will relax you.

5. Stop reading those books that tell you all the problems that can occur in pregnancy.  Your doctor can worry about that.

6. Write down all of you questions so that you can bring it to your next appointment, Dr's or Midwife's.  This means you don't have to dwell on it.

7. Do what you already did and reach out to others that have or are going through the same thing.

9. STOP Worring.  Al that you can do is to prepare.  So, with that in mind don't worry about what you can not control.  Sometimes this alone will make you feel better.  Many times peoples problems are solved just because the accepted the absolut worse.  (This can be harder than just saying it.  I know.  I'm a professional worrywort.

Hope this helps.

Peace

Re: It has to come out some time. What am I going to do?

I have started doing a fair bit of walking but my balance isnt too good atm and i find myself going dizzy or throwing up if im on my feet for too long.

Also i find i cant talk to my dr about problems as they seem to ask me more questions about it for example the other day i got asked by one of them how much caffeine is allowed nowadays.

I shall go and buy some herbal teas tomorrow and see if these will help.

Thanks so much for ur advice.
