Love makes the world go round
Great ideas.  E has just started pre-school lunch once a week and i am starting this - intending to make it a tradition.  I reckon it is a fantastic idea to drop a note in with the lunch, it reassures her that i am thinking of her, even while she is away all day.  She always tells me how much she misses me when she gets home.  It is sweet, but i think it does help her to remember that she is loved and it is ok that we are not together for the meal.
Peace

I say I love you to my daughter and my husband all of the time. Everytime I talk to my husband on the phone, he tells me he loves me!! I like it.. I also tell my animals that I love them.

I get told by my kids constantly that they love me, I have always told them from when they were babies.  And as for McDonalds yes a treat, these days there is one on every corner, you kind of cant avoid it when your 4 yr old is screaming from the back to go there lol.

mmm McDonalds as a treat maybe- even if it is a 'just cause' treat... not that i think you meant like every weeend or anything....

I like to tell everyone i love that i love them ... (my husband tells me so about ten times before i even get out of bed...and then everytime he calls during the day... an\ danother ten or twenty before he falls alseep :)    ) and i love to praise and encourage... its teh best thing for kids. it makes them feel special, know that your proud, and gives them that little boost to try harder!

nice job!

Love is a many splended thing
You are right and I have told my baby I love her since the day she was born, I make a point of doing it.  I don't agree with the taking them to McDonalds as teaching good nutition is part of loving them, why not take them to a park on a picnic, fresh air excercise family play healtier all around & more loving and special.  Also there's nothing wrong I believe in letting your children know that you believe in them enough to think they can try harder and improve themselves.  If you praise a child for a mediocre repot, they are unlikely to try for anything other than mediocre, when perhaps they could have worked a little harder, and learned a little more.  Saying that they did soo well in a, b & c, but lets see if you can do as well next time in d & e & f is encouragement and instilling in them a desire for personal growth.  Every action we do as parents is based on love, even if sometimes it's tough love.  Over all your sentiments are great

Simple but very effective advice - and something we often forget in these days of me, me, me. Agree with everything except maybe taking them to Maccas!
