Acting The Part For Your Kids

demonikangels by demonikangels Standing(February 2009) (rank 481st)

How often do we just feel like we arent ready for the day, or what the day is bringing us and want to go back to bed and curl up? and yet we get up because the kids are relying on us to be there for them.
Putting on that

smiling face is actually beneficial to your children. If they see their parents all down in the dumps over something then they are going to respond the same way, and reflect our moods; and the last thing you want if your tired or not feeling that great if for you child to start acting up aswell.

Remember its ok to need to take a break, have a long warm bubble bath or just go outside for a quick break, but when your kids are around, do your best into fooling them that your happy. They will be better behaved.

Its not always that your sad so they are sad, but if they think that their mum or dad is sad or sick, they will worry which can lead to unsavory behaviour from them, and they dont mean to do it, its just being a kid.

Re: Acting The Part For Your Kids

Hi,

This advise is timely! I totaly agree.

The other day I woke up feeling really unwell and I had a thousand things to do. I guess my face showed my emotions and my little one kept saying, "what;s wring Mummy!" . I coulds see that my expression was making her worried and sad so I tried very hard to put a smile on my face.

It sure did help!

Cheers :)

Great advice... Besides, putting on a brave face can sometimes trick your subconcious into believing that everything's ok and improve your own outlook too.
