Getting a 2 Year Old to Follow Orders!

ElleyP by ElleyP In Nappies(February 2009) (rank 500+)

Yep, its that time of a parent's life when they have raised their cute cuddley baby into a two year old monster! Trying to get a two year old to do what you want seems impossible! I know I go through it every day.  However one thing I have learnt

is to pay attention to how your child responds to requests... I often word my requests to my son differently depending on the result I want and how I know he'll react to what I have said.   I try to turn everything into a game or something he likes.  For example if he refuses to leave the car and go inside, I tell him that I will give him a race to the kitchen... he soon leaves the car and bolts inside, giving me time to get the groceries out of the car and lock the door so he can't escape! (Did I mention my 2 year old is also Houdini reincarnated?)

This seems like such a good way to get the things you need the kids to do.
