New cow's milk especially formulated for toddlers

rachelcook by rachelcook Minti Founder(August 2006) (rank 24th)
After writing my Minti article on "Which newborn milk formula should I use?", I realized that for those toddlers that are on to cow's milk, there were no other choices available to parents that provided the additional nutrients toddlers need. Then to my surprise here in Australia, Brownes
have launched a new toddler milk especially for this gap in the market.

Brownes new toddler milk contains;
Iron Zinc, Vitamin D and Calcium. It is recommended to transfer from formula at 12 months. This toddler milk is suitable for 12 month olds tup to the age of four. Full fat milk is also very important to provide your toddler who is beginning to move onto cow's milk. You can also continue giving your little one Toddler Milk Formula (called follow on formula), however for me I wanted to introduce cow's milk from 12 months onwards because it was in a natural form and by little one didn't like the taste of the Toddler Milk Formula.

More info on Brownes Junior Toddler Milk is linked so  you can also include this info and the link in an email (which I recommend) to your milk company in your area country or state, if you can't get a hold of this type of milk.

Why toddler milk? Why can't I just use normal cow's milk? (from the Brownes website)

It is particularly good for fussy eaters of this age group – as these toddlers may not be getting all the nutrients they need in a day.

Brownes Junior milk drink contains:

Zinc – which is crucial for the healthy growth and development of children helping immunity and brain function.

Vitamin D
– which is needed for optimal Calcium absorption. Vitamin D is essential for normal bone and teeth development due to its effect on Calcium absorption.

Iron – which is essential for all body functions. Iron is great for toddlers to feed their brains and fuel their lives.

Calcium – which is required for the normal development and maintenance of bones and teeth. Calcium is particularly important for children as their bones are growing rapidly and it is important that they build maximum bone mass at this stage in their lives.

Protein – which is required throughput life to create, maintain and renew body cells. Protein is used as building blocks for the body's cells.

Does it pass the taste test?

My toddler likes the taste and now is quite happy to drink his milk without it being warmed. I does give me confidence that when he goes through stages of not eating (due to teething etc) that at least he is getting the important nutrients that keep his body thriving.

To find these same type of products in your country or state, conducting a search or visiting your popular formula and milk brands websites will help you find the relevant products locally. You can also call these companies direct to ask as well.

Brownes Junior Milk
I found it on the shelf  at our local Coles and I'm in the NT.
I will get some this week as Miss Cheeky Chops (2years 3months) is still having formula 4 times a day . I make the formula up as usual, halve it then mix it with regular cows milk to make it go a bit further.

Great article - thanks

That's good information. I'll have to see if they make something like that over in Canada here. I know starting at 9 months here you can introduce cow's milk, i think whole only though. Not 2% until they are 2 yrs old.
