Re: surpise 25th birthday party

Question:

I am playing to throw my partner a suprise birthday party for his 25th, but im on a tight budget, (having 4 kids tends to stretch money as it is)  and im after quick

and easily recipes for snacks for the party and also decorations, can anyone please give me some ideas.

My Advice: Hi,

I know the situation you're in.  Have been there a few times myself.  Anyway, make a large platter of salad   (Lettuce or finally chopped white cabbage, grated carrot, toms, cucumber, capsicums, onions & cut an orange up into small pieces & put on top of salad.  Buy a B.B.Q. chook, pull apart into small pieces & mix in with the salad. (chill in the fridge or find a friend who has room)

Take a couple of frozen slices of puff pastry, when thawed, smear with tomato paste/tomato sauce/bolonaise sauce.  Finely chop onions, capsicum, mushrooms and bacon (or what you can find), cooked in microwave for 2-3 minutes & then spread on top of the "sauce" on the sheet of puff-pastry.  Roll up tightly (like a swiss roll) and cut into thin slices, then put them on some cooking paper on a tray & bake in the oven 180c (fan-forced, if not 200c in normal oven)  Bake for approx 15-20 minutes or until slightly brown.

Have you got cup-cake/bun trays?  Roll out puff-pastry (that makes it go further) and use a cutter (glass/cup/mug or whatever you'e got) and line your bun tin with cut out pastry.  Into bowel put 4 eggs (all depends on size, use more if they're small), shake black pepper,  good shake of garlic powder, half a teaspoon of dried mustard powder, 1 desertspoon of parmesan cheese (this saves you using more grated cheese) and half a cup of milk.  Mix everything up in mixer for couple of minutes.  Meanwhile ( I do this first) chop onion, bacon & capsicum into small pieces& cook in microwave for couple of minutes.  Put this into egg mixture & stir gently (you don't want to get rid of all the air-bubbles).  I grate at least half a bowl of mature cheddar cheese & put that into mixture.  Finally, spoon into pastry cups & put into oven at 180c fan-force  or 200 in ordinary oven.  Bake for approx 20 mintues.  When cool, put on tray.

Open tin pinapple pieces & cut into smaller pieces (this makes it go a lot further), cut cubes of cheese & use tooth-picks to keep cheese & pinapple together.

Cook some snaggs, once cold, cut into small pieces & again use tooth- picks.  For the kids, I'd just put some in a dish like wise the cheese & pinapple so they don't "jab" one another with the tooth-picks.

I make my own sausage rolls, but on a budget,  cook some snaggs,  roll out puff-pastry (to make it go further), cut in half, spread tomato sauce etc on pastry, roll snaggs up in pastry & cut to mouth-bite size.  Brush milk/egg of top of pastry & cook for approx 20 minutes.

Buy a few savory nibbles, even savory biscuits with cheese, of whatever you have.  I hope it all goes well for you.  Try & get your friends to help or to take your children out for a while so you can get on.  Have a Great party!

Love, Krys x

P.S. Make sure you have food that your children can eat.
