My daughter has just started kinder and would really love to start a sport like her classmates, she is a huge fan of horses and wants to do horse riding. My
question is does anyone know where and how to lease a horse-or buy a horse and lease land. Where to find classieds for that. Pony clubs-horse riding. I live in australia-NSW-wollongong area, would travel up to sydney area-down to nowra area. locally would be better though. Also prices and costs

My Advice:
Hi,
My name is samantha knight and Im a riding coach at the national equestrian centere in Canberra. My advice you can take or leave. At the NEQC we have all levels of riders coming in from small children and adults with no riding experience to small children and adults who are very competant. We work on a stages system which is set out in our riders manuel where the rider has lessons whith us ( coaches) and as they progress we mark off where they are up to and they then progress to the next stage. I would not advise you to rush out and buy a horse for your daughter as there is a LOT of time and money involved in caring for the horse with out even going to pony club and this could just be a fad she is going through. I would suggest for you to take her to an equestrian centre first where she learns to do everything with he hrse first eg. grooming, cleaning, feeding, saddeling, etc. that way she can get an idea of all the work that is requierd of her and the responsability that is also involved. When she see's the not so fun side to it she may not want to do it, but if she does then enrol her in things like little league at the equestrian centre and go from there. We suggest that a child spends at least 12 months at an equestrian centre before buying a horse for them straight away. Hope that I have helped you in some way feel free to ask more questions.
Cheers samantha
