What age can I expect my child to develop FINE & GROSS MOTOR SKILLS?

When comparing the development of children of similar age, it is important to remember that boys will generally exceed girls in gross motor skills, whilst girls will exceed boys in fine motor skills. The following is a guide to when you can expect your child to develop these skills.

Gross Motor Skills
BOYS
Jump in Place 2yrs 4months
Jump Off Stair 2yrs 8months
Hop on One Foot 3yrs 10months
Throw Beanbag (overarm) 4yrs 5months
Catch a Beanbag 4yrs 5months

GIRLS
Jump in Place 2yrs 5months
Jump Off Stair 2yrs 9months
Hop on One Foot 4yrs
Throw Beanbag (overarm) 5yrs 5months
Catch a Beanbag 5yrs 5months

Fine Motor Skills
BOYS
use a spoon 22 months
use a fork 2yrs 8months
do/undo buttons 3yrs 5months
use scissors 4yrs
tie shoelaces 5yrs
cut with a knife 6yrs 5months

GIRLS
use a spoon 18 months
use a fork 2yrs 4months
do/undo buttons 3yrs

I don't know where this info came from, but it is way off the mark... My son was using a spoon at 5 & 1/2 mths, (from his first meal).  He was throwing and catching a ball the day before he turned 1 whilst on the move.  He spreads his own toast/bread and cuts it holding the knife correctly... I would never limit his abilities based on a list, especially one so limiting and backward.
