My partner & i are finding that we are differing on some ways to discipline our child-we've tried talking about it, but can't come to an agreement-does anyone have any suggestions?
My husband and I were in the same situation. I think alot of the differing opinions was
because of the way each of us had been brought up. I found that it was becoming more of a problem the older the kids got, and from the different situations you find yourself in with kids (like down the street). So instead of fighting about it, we tried to look for all different methods. we decided to try the positive parenting program. We found this to be quite helpful as it give you different discipline methods and different situations as examples. It allowed us to decided and make a plan as to how to disciple our children together, backing each other up. You try and decide what plan works for your family (all of the family).
We have found that it has made our relationship better as we now have a base plan that we agree on. The kids are better behaved, i think because they have rules and know that the consequences for their actions are. And a big bonus that came out of this was we know how to back each other up and the kids cannot plot one parent against the other. If you want to know anything about this program, please contact me. I hope whatever method you find goes well.
