Home made baby wipes

ecmd by ecmd Crawling(May 10th) (rank 500+)

Hi,

I have 4 kids to feed cloth and all that other stuff so I don't have much extra money for those essential thing like "baby wipes"

so I made my own.

all you need is a piece of flannelette cloth.

cut it into a

good size and then fold the edges over and stick around so it doesn't fray and your done.

you can also get them of ebay.com (America)

they are great and you can get them in any pattern you want to.

give them a try they save me like $20 a month.

Re: Home made baby wipes

If I could sew I would make them. I have some made for us. I also buy the best wet wipes (without fragrance or chemicals) but they last ages.  We use wipes sparingly.

Re: Home made baby wipes

That is an awful lot of trouble to go to just to make some wipes.  The time spent making them would be a lot!  The time spent washing them would be even more, considering you would need about 5-10 a day for 1 child, and an extra 5-10 per day for each child thereafter.

Hi,

I just use warm water in a bowl and wet the wipe and clean baby.

Then applie a bit of nappy cream to their bots.

To clean then just wash then in the washing machine.

Well any advice on how to help save parent's money on items like this is great, though I do like where some of the other postings state to use a little baby oil etc on them.  I think this would help to clean & moisturise; what do you use with the wipes that helps to clean & moisturise?  How do you clean the wipes before resusing to ensure that they are hygenic?

Re: Home made baby wipes

Do you rewash or throw out? Do you use fabric glue? The flannelet is nice and soft probably similar to huggies softness.

You could buy the flannelette baby blankets and cut them up or a flannelette sheet.

Tried making my own once with thick paper towel water and baby body location or sorbolene.
