Trust your voice.

quinjai3 by quinjai3 Talking(June 1st) (rank 126th)

Hi to all,

I must say I love coming on Minti and reading the advice and questions, as I find that something I have been to embaressed to ask is usually already on here and I can relate to the answers given ( It is nice to know that

when it comes to parenting issues we are not alone, it pretty much happens to everyone).

One thing I do have difficulty with sometimes is trying to get out what I want to say; like when you go to answer a question but you just can't seem to get to sound "right" either because you want it to sound better, smarter, important (or even to just make sense) etc. some people have a real flare for words and can make anything sound good and then there are those who struggle (I believe I am of the later) Yet your answers or advice could be exacticaly what someone needs to hear. I would like to say to those that struggle, trust your voice, your words and your wisdom. You may have been told once in your life that you don't make sense but that isn't every time you speak (or write) up. The more you step forward and have your say the better you will get ( practice makes perfect) it is hard at first but it gets easier with time.

My piece of advice here (being a person whoes been told their opinions and words don't count) is if you have something to say, say it (providing it's apropriate). Trust in yourself and your experiences. if minti has tought me anything it is that there is always others out there who have the same (or worse) experiences as you and you are not alone, speak up, be heard. someone will listen and it does make a difference for the better.

Re: Trust your voice.

What makes minti a great site, if  there is a Mum out there that needs help or a question answered....there is always another Mum  ready  to give  help or answer a question.

Sorry you have been told that your words & opinions don't count, for what you have written is great advice. If our life's experiences can help others...we definitely can make a difference.

Janice

Re: Trust your voice.

As long as you can get your point across, I think everyone should comment & offer assistance, blogs, advice as much as possible.  Every time someone writes; their writing improves.  There are plenty of free online programs & commonly used software that can spell check & offer assistance with a thesaurus for those who get 'stuck for words'.  You can run it by a friend if you are really nervous, or just take the bit between your teeth & go for it.  I think it is especially important if you have a point of view or experience to offer that differs to what has already been written - all opinions are valid.
