Online and 24 hour helpline for Breastfeeding

tanisi by tanisi In Nappies(August 3rd) (rank 500+)

The Australian Breastfeeding Association website www.breastfeeding.asn.au is awesome for advice and information on breastfeeding and all manner of breastfeeding-related issues.  You can ask for email help by clicking on hotline and then email.  I was helped so much by them whilst I lived overseas and couldn't contact La Leqgue

de Leche or other health providers.  I highly highly recommend them.  You don't have to join to get help - but you may be like me and be so appreciative of the helpy that they give you that you will end up joining (and only for $50AUD).

Re: Online and 24 hour helpline for Breastfeeding

Oh der, I forgot to add that perhaps the 1800 number below makes these numbers redundant, however some phone systems can't call 1800 numbers, so perhaps it is worth trying them if you get stuck.

Re: Online and 24 hour helpline for Breastfeeding

The new 1800 number does make a lot of these redundant, and I don't know what would happen if you rang them, but you could try?  The new number is a much more efficient phone system - all automated and much quicker.

I gather for mobile you can still ring the 1800 number but it is no longer free, and if you are on VOIP (and other internet systems) you can ring minus the last digit, so 1800 686 2 68.  This explains it all.

In Australia you can also ring them on 1800 686 2 686 (1800 mum 2 mum) for free (from a landline).  Oh, and if they still have the special offer you get a free book as part of the membership.
