Nappy Rashes

lofty by lofty In Nappies(August 4th) (rank 500+)

Through personal experience nappy rash is not a pleasent thing for our wee ones to go through.  But in saying that, my son had, what I thought was nappy rash, on the inside of his legs around his groin area.  I tried zinc and castor oil cream, cornflour (advice

from my mother) but nothing seemed to clear it up.  Fortunately we were already seeing a specialist for his eczema, and when he went for a check up the specialist told us that it was a common mistake, that the rash was not nappy rash but was infact eczema.  So my advice is not to assume that it is nappy rash and maybe get it checked by GP if your child doesn't have any other skin conditions.

Re: Nappy Rashes

Ezcema can look alot like nappy rash if you don't know the difference, my middle children both suffer with ezcema, we found Dermaveen works wonders. So far our 4th is looking like he's in the clear!

Cheers Raven

Also I just remembered if you have access to a flax bush cut the strips near the base and split down the middle, use the flax sap that is in here like a cream. Flax sap can be used for any kind of skin problems eczema, cuts, scrapes etc because it works like a natural antibiotic. I've tried it many times and it really works.

Hi I tried all of the above with my babies as well, they also suffer with eczema, the thing my nan told me to do was lather the area with natural yoghurt, it works a treat for nappy rash eczema and yeast infections.

Re: Nappy Rashes

I actually presumed my babies excema was nappy rash as it was only around the groin, only to be told by the doctor it was in fact excema. They present the same rash but excema cannot be cured with nappy rash cream. An easy enough mistake to make.

Re: Nappy Rashes

That's pretty good advice actually; there tends to be a tad too much self-diagnosing and treatment sometimes when it comes to babies.
