Halloween

madimom609 by madimom609 Crawling(September 28th) (rank 500+)

Halloween is approaching us and this is the time to start looking for a costume for your little one if you haven't already.  I tend to cringe at this holiday, because I have seen accidents that can easily be avoided, mainly from choosing the right costume.  Please try to

avoid costumes with capes.  Every year we all get together at my in laws' for Halloween and all to often I have seen children tripping on capes or gowns that are too long.  If you do have in mind to get a costume that includes a cape or you are making your own costume for a witch, ghost, vampire, etc. be sure it's not too long and have your child practice walking in it first before they go trick or treating.  Of course, you should always follow common safety guidelines for trick or treating, such as having an adult accompany trick or treaters and having flash lights if you will be out after dark.  Here is a link for safety guide lines to follow www.halloween-safety.com/halloween_safety_kids.html

Also, I have an article published on Healthy trick or treat ideas to give out to trick or treaters or at a Halloween party.  www.associatedcontent.com/article/2138539/healthy_trick_or_treat_snack_ideas.html

Re: Halloween

Great tip!

What I don't understand is that why there is no safety regulation for costumes, especially costumes for kids. Some of the cheap ones are so flimsy, I don't doubt they would catch on fire easily.

Re: Halloween

i have seen in the past malls that participate in this past-time. the children are safe from cars, and other things that can go wrong. the children walk from store to store passing out candy and even little toys. look into it. your local mall might be on aboard too!
