baby's got gas.....

Jessgore by Jessgore Young Parent(August 2006) (rank 5th)

My son is 14m so I can't promise this will work with everyones babies, but when my son has gas I give him his sippy cup with water in it and I rub his belly.. He usually lets out a big fart afterwards and falls back to sleep.. I am not sure if it is the water that helps (I think it does a bit) or the rubbing of the belly, but I do know that the water helps keep him calm while I rub his belly.....

I would not recomend this for little baby's that don't drink water yet........

Babies with gas

As i remember, i used to do the same thing by rubbing my daughter's tummy aswell. I never gave her water though to drink, but just rubbing her tummy and sometimes her lower back too, and then she would just let rip, and she'd be fine after that. Maybe the water did work for your child?

I too used Gripe water
On My Mum's suggestion I too used grip water and it was very effective, it is full of herbs and she even loved the taste of it from one week old.  In Aust we also have Invocol whgich is what my District health nurse recommended and most of the other mothers in first mothers group used...I was the only Gripe Water Mum.  I never used it, but they seemed to think it was great stuff.  Good subject Jess.

Gripe water is unheard of here in, if it is here it is hiding very well as I have looked every where.... thankfully the water helps really well...  I think also while he drinks the water it helps him to relax because he lets out a big fart and he is ok again... That may be the big factor in why it works because he concerntrates on something else..

You dont have gripe water in Quebec? They have it here in Calgary. At the pharmacy. Shoppers Drug Mart/London Drugs or even the grocery store I believe. Even Walmart too, just ask the pharmist i'm sure they'll know, or know where to get it.

Also, if gripe water dont work. My mom used this on my niece and told me to use it on my daugther if it ever happens to her and its to put a little bit of sugar in with the water and let them drink it. It should work and it cost less because you're making it yourself and not really buying anything.

Gripe water
Isa awesome for this- somertimes you can actually hear it doing something in baby's belly and has the same reaction. can be bought from most supermarkets. Can be used on infants at any age- and you dont have to worry as much about any nasties is the water- it can be added into bubby's bottle of formula, if bub is formula fed.  otherwise can be given like medicine, just with a smigden of boiled water mixed in.
