Imodium and breastfeeding

JenandNick by JenandNick Crawling(September 30th) (rank 500+)

**This advice comes with a caveat - I am NOT a doctor**

Mums who are breastfeeding, please be aware that if you take Imodium (an anti diarrhoea drug)  your baby will most likely become constipated.

I have found a little prune juice mixed in with her food or

cooled boiled water can fix this within 24 hours.

Re: Imodium and breastfeeding

I take this is from experience? Minti parents appreciate advice that comes from experience, so I think you'll find that your article will get better rating from others if you were to talk a bit more about your experience with Immodium. How long did you take it? How soon after did you notice your baby was constipated?

With all breastfeeding parents, it is always a good idea to read all medicine labels and as a double check - to check with your local pharmacist/chemist if the drug is safe while breastfeeding.
