PERSISTENT KIDS

SUDESHNA by SUDESHNA In Nappies(October 6th) (rank 500+)

Hi,

I am a mother of two lovely daughters. My elder one is ten years old and of late I have been noticing a change in her behaviour pattern

She has become very much persistent in a few aspects. Inspite of repeated negations things were continuing in the same

manner.

Talking sweetly/or scolding doesnt help in these cases. I saw a lovely change in her by spending some extra hours with her... sharing a bit more of her world with her. This really helps.

Re: PERSISTENT KIDS

Kids use persistence to gain the reaction/attention they need from you.

If you can spend time with each child, 1 on 1 you will create a more personal connection with your kids. This will lead to them listening to you more intently, and hopefully not nagging you as much. These 1 on 1 sessions will serve as a way for them to unload their problems, and allow you the opportunity to show them more love and respect while you help them learn to deal with things. You will become closer, and lessen the nagging they normally use to gain your attention

1 on 1 get together's, create closeness, understanding and trust in you. Not to mention your child will become so comfortable with you, that they will find it easy to open up to you when they need help in the future!

Keep up the good work!

Awesome. Children need our presence more than anything else.

My son also acts up trying to get my attention because I should be spending more time with him.  I don't get angry with him, as this is his way of telling me to be more involved.  Kids learn from a very young age that by being persistent they might just get what they want.

How very observant of you! My son is the same. When he acts up, it's usually because I should be spending more time with him and he is acting out by trying to get my attention. So rather than telling him off, I realise he is reminding mumma that she should be more involved and we go and play together.

Great job in investing time with your kids. I think with involved parents behind them, kids do well.

Good job for taking time to spend with her. I think as our kids approach their pre teens it's important to be there for them and guide them as they adjust to the changes they are going through.  Her attitude and her moods will be like a roller coaster but as long as you stay involved in her life you will survive.  Good Job and Good Luck!  Louise
