Unsettled baby could it be wind?

Roomtogrow by Roomtogrow Crawling(October 13th) (rank 500+)

Wind and Colic a interview with maternal health nurse Deb Akers.

Points from the interview:
- Sign of wind is a very unsettled baby usually under the age of 12 weeks, displaying systems of being distress, often with wind, more than one day of the

week, it can be also several days in a row.
- Ways to help relieve wind, place baby on your lap and think of your baby esophagus which is a tube from your mouth to your stomach as being like a straw. Now if you have a bendy straw and its bent over, it is difficult to get up any wind that maybe in the trapped in their tummies. Hold your baby under their chin and sort of straighten their neck, so you are actually straightening their back. and give a them a bit of a massage to try and help get that wind up. (watch video to see how it is demonstrated).
- Another tip is to put your baby over your forearm and just massage their backs(watch video to see how it is demonstrated).
- You can also put their back on your lab and bring their legs up and down or gently ride a bike with their legs (watch video to see how it is demonstrated).
- Baby with wind have a very tight tummy and another thing you can try is get the pads of your fingers and gently massage your baby tummy (watch video to see how it is demonstrated).
- A baby sling can also help, because it puts your baby in that curve posture.
- put your baby in a pram or rock the pram, motion can also help settle your baby.
- if you need further help contact the 24 hour help line or speak to your Maternal health nurse or go to your local hospital because some hospitals have unsettled baby clinics.
