Minti Rules

ClayCook by ClayCook Minti Founder(July 2010) (rank 20th)

(note: this article is in its very early stage of development - I intend to fill it out more in the coming weeks - please add suggestions in the comments)

Here is a roundup of links & information on how to conduct yourself on Minti.

* Please read our Code of Honor. It basically states... be nice, think of others, and don't cause conflict.

* Thinking of writing an article? Please read Minti's Editorial Guidelines

* Here is our FAQs regarding Minti. This list is a little old now, but it still has the basics.

* Minti is largely a public site, and anything posted can be seen by the rest of the world. Here is an article one Member wrote about how to keep safe on Minti.

* Please don't breach copyright. ie: Don't copy someone else's work and try pass it off here on Minti as your own.

* Your Minti member page - is exactly that... it is yours, and you are pretty much free to do what you like with it (except illegal stuff of course). Feel free to link to your business if you want to.

* Promoting your business on Minti - this is a sensitive topic. Best place to link to your business is on your Minti Member page (as mentioned above). What is NOT cool is going around Minti and commenting with links to your business... just comment to add value to the discussion.

* Voting versus Reporting - If you don't agree with an advice article then vote it down (and maybe even leave a comment with your counter argument), do NOT report it. If the advice article is illegal, abusive, against our Terms of Service (etc) then "report" it. Here is some more advice on Voting v's Reporting, and also here. If you want to become more involved in the report moderation part of Minti it would be a good idea to become a member of the Report it or Not private group.

Now go out there and enjoy yourself!

Any contributed content above is the subjective opinion of that member or external author, and not of Minti.com Pty Ltd. If you are searching for health related advice we strongly suggest you seek professional medical support. View our Terms of Service for more details.

Re: Minti Rules

might need to read again me thinks

It is a good read every now and then because you do tend to forget what site you are on, it does take time to read but what better way to stay out of trouble on the site of Minti  powered by parents

Re: Minti Rules

I hope these rules are inforced. I have left a simiular site to this becasue the women there were bitchy, judgmental, baiased and down right mean.  I hated how they would gang up on a user and try to make her feel as low as they could.  We are all adults so lets act like it and not resort to schoolyard behavior.

Re: Minti Rules

Perhaps it is the rebel in me, however I find the word 'RULES' very confrontational.   It is as if you are expecting a new member to misbehave or break the rules... Perhaps Minti's Guidelines or Making the Most of Minti might be less aggressive.

"Here is a roundup of links & information on how to conduct yourself on Minti."   That sounds kind of grumpy, how about something more like, "welcome to Minti, here is a round up of links and information explaining how the site works, how to participate and rules of conduct."

Re: Minti Rules

Often you see a person joins up then straight awa y they ad a link to there web page, while this is good to have all of it in place. Do you think that these particular people are reading the C O H and the rest.

This is what is getting the community angry all the silly one  off's

Re: Minti Rules

Veejay

That is a good point that you raise.

My view (and the original view when we created the member page) is that the member page is the members page. It is an area that they can put anything they want (except illegal content etc)... so I am cool with people linking to their business from their member page etc (heck - i do it too).

What is not cool is commenting everywhere with just self promotion and adding no value.

I am not sure if the current community understands this or agrees with it.

Cheers
Clay

Re: Minti Rules

Yes sorry the home page is where you can link your bussiness. These people don't even bother to ad anything on the home page (at all) then start commenting to another link. Your second last paragraph is what I mean to.

Cheers Vicki

Re: Minti Rules

 Vicki

I know what you mean now. Correct - this type of activity is not on, and I don't think they read the ToS or Code of Honor... and most would not really care about it anyway.

Having said that "some" may make an innocent mistake, and may become good members in future if they were informed before being slapped with an immediate report... however I think this is likely a small minority of the ones that join and immediately start commenting everywhere promoting their website.

Re: Minti Rules

I don't agree with an immediate report unless warented  and yes a lot have stayed and became great parents on this site and that small minority just fade away
