Baby gifts

In response to the question:  What should you give as a newborn gift to new parents, particularly in the case of a new baby boy?

I would say that it would probably depend on how well you know the new parents.  I love both giving and receiving personalized gifts.  I also love making up my own gift baskets containing "essentials", which would normally seem boring if given just of in itself.  I also have given gifts where I purchased a children's book which had meaning to me and personalized it with a written message or advice given to the baby.  I think I just try to customize it depending on the parent's personality and personal needs.  Good luck!
