A Fable We All Could Learn From, by AESOP

tinker79 by tinker79 Talking Back(September 2006) (rank 99th)

The Dog's Reflection -

Once there was a dog who was given a fine, meaty bone. With the bone firmly between his teeth, the dog trotted home, thinking of what a fine meal he was going to enjoy.

On the way, he had to cross a narrow

bridge,he caught sight of his own reflection in the water.Thinking it was another dog carrying a bone between his teeth , the foolish animal made up his mind that he would have that bone, too.

He leaned over and snapped at the dog  beneath him. As he did, the bone fell into the water and was lost.

The moral is:  Be careful that you don't lose what you have, by trying to get more.

Perspective
I agree, it is important to value what we have and appreciate it.

It isnt until we lose something that we often realise exactly how much we value it and actually need it in our lives

greener grass?
if the grass is greener its usually chemically enhanced! You don't want it , nor do you neeed it. where God want's you is exactly wher eyou are... in other words, you are in the situation you are meant to be in. may not be ideal, but it wil make you and your family that much stronger for enduring it.

Agreed but.....

I agree there are some people out there who always think the grass is greener on the other side and are always trying to keep up with the jones, but with that being said there are some people who are well off but keep with in their means and are wonderful people....

I know a couple  who are rather well off and have the best of the best (darn hard to by Christmas presents for so we don't :) , any way this couple are very down to earth and I believe that if that is what they want then go for it... I say this because they have not always been well off, and have worked very hard over the years, and have installed very good values in their children...  So why not enjoy what they have and if they want more let them, they are not gready people they just know what they want, and they don't take their stuff to the tip though, they pass it over to who needs it, they never let a good thing go to waist and always share what they have....  Which I think is fantastic..

We should not be so greedy

I've heard of well off people that have a fine lounge just take the old one to the tip.

How sad is that.  Why do we alway what the next best thing.

We should be gratefull what we have and live as simply as we can.  We don't need the gucci lounge or TV.

We should be putting more effort in getting to know our creator.
