Buy a Toddler a Pair of Crocs

rich115 by rich115 Speaking(March 2006) (rank 390th)
I bought my wife a pair of Crocs (footwear made from an interesting material similar to plastic) recently as a present. She swims a lot, and their design are perfect for the beach and water life.

At the same time I bought my 24-month-old daughter a pair (the Beach version). They're incredibly practical for toddlers: easy to put on, slip resistant, stain resistant (for those little accidents), easy to clean (for more of those little accidents), lightweight (for packing), and anti-bacterial. Best of all, my daughter loves them, there is never an issue convincing her to put them on.

They're not the cheapest type of footwear, but they're hardy and I've found them worth the price.

Re: Buy a Toddler a Pair of Crocs
I lnever got into that whole croc craze her in the US...That is until I found the Mammoth crocs!  I love these for my girl.  My neice has a pair from another company, sketchers, I think, and I don't think they are as cute.  Then again, it's my baby girl that I got them for :).  But these are nice since she can wear them around the house or even outside as it is winter time here and her feet will stay tasty warm.  On top of that the lining comes off so you can wash it in the washer or by hand.  I love them now for her..I'm going to get her some for summer too!!!

Hi
Hubby reckoned he would never wear them
We brought a cheap pair from Big W  $9.87
He loves them and we will be looking at buying a good quality pair soon for him
He virtually wears nothing else
Son is the same
Have noticed the Big W ones the strap at the back breaks easily and they wear quickly but still very comfy
Now just got to get a pair i like...fluoro green or purple jsut does not do it for me
Luv Deb

Re: Buy a Toddler a Pair of Crocs
I think that this is a good tip - and there are even better reasons to buy Croc's that you could add to pad it out as advice... However I don't think you are too worried about that!  They are great for kids, they are light, ergonomic, and very sturdy for playing and running in all types of weather, and terrain.  There are far more interesting styles available, and they really are only medium priced as far as kids shoes go.  Cheers - Lui

Knock offs available
We bought some croc copies and my son loves them!  He lives in them and calls them his running shoes.  Just about every toddler is in them now - they are fantastic!

Saw these a couple of days ago...

You know I saw these a couple of days ago and both myself and my husband just said Yuck.. (Not to our taste)... But reading what you wrote made me think they will be perfect for our sons first trip to Australia...  Where my family live there are lots of rivers and the rocks will hurt his little feet when we take him to the water. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.... In fact I think I'll get myself a pair as well... Still I don't think the hubby will go for it.. He is a fussy one that husband of mine...

Even though they are not to my taste in style, I think they will be perfect for the safety of my son's feet... Not to mention the stuff people leave on the beaches these days...

Once again thanks. Will give it a go.

IMO, I don't think Crocs are ANYBODY's taste.  They're certainly not the most attractive shoe out there.  But, once you put 'em on and feel how comfy they are, the look of the show may not really matter as much.  By the way, they do have other styles now.  Have you been to the Crocs site?  Also, check out the Journey's Shoes site.  I got a pair of Mary Jane Crocs from them.  They're much cuter than the traditional design.  They also have ballerina crocs ("crocs prima" on the Journey's site).

What a Croc!
I have heard such great things I bought a few pair. They are 50 bucks at our local surf shop. But I got them on ebay for less. I have a purple pair. My boy has a black pair. My girl has a green pair.
I think they feel great. They must be a very lightweight rubber not plastic at all. I can hardlt tell I have them on. My boy loves them the most. They are great for him esp with his eczema. He can even run in them which is strange as he has trouble with most shoes. I am impressed.

Cool
They look pretty cool, and more practical for young kids than flip-flops or masseurs.

I having crocs myself, bought my 18 month old daughter a pair, We couldn't be more pleased! They are incredibly comfortable and very easy to clean. They dont make your feet sweaty, the holes in them really let your feet breath.

Toddler Crocs

I ordered a pair of Crocs for my two y.o. from the Journey's Shoes site.  Haven't received 'em yet as they're on backorder untill August 8th.  Nofeargear.com also has Crocs for 1-4 year olds.

Hope this helps.

Re: Do they cause blisters?
They claim they don't cause sweat. There not actually plastic, but something similar, but are warm (according to my wife).

They do rub if you do a long walk. Your average going to the pool/beach-trip they are ok. However, my wife tried walking for several kilometers in them, and ended up with blisters on the top of her feet.

Do they cause blisters?

I wonder if it depends on where they're made or even the model.  My first pair of Crocs are the Beach model and were made in Colorado.  BEST SHOES EVER as far as comfort!!!  I've walked miles in 'em and no blisters.  Just extreeeeeme, cushy comfort.  Recently, I purchased a pair of the new Mary Jane Crocs which were made in China.  Not the same...AT ALL!  Yes, they're comfortable.  But, they're not as cushy as my Colorado Crocs and the feel of the material is slightly different.  My Colorado Crocs stay on my feet, sans strap, without being sticky and without my having to curl my toes as opposed to the China Crocs.  The China Crocs feel similar to the Crocs knock-off (Croc-offs?) that I tried on -but didn't buy- at Famous Footwear a while ago.  While reading reviews in Zappos.com, I've come across others who've made the same comparisons between the older, Colorado Crocs and the newer, China made Crocs.

Would be great if you could upload a picture of them. i did go to the website and I thought, aahh that's what they are...before I went to the site I thought crocs was something made out of a crocodile. They look great, I think they are a good idea, I will keep this in mind and look out for them at the shops :)
