I have a friend whose child has just gone through major surgery on her brain to cure a rare form of epilepsy. What should I get her as a "get well soon" gift? I don't want to get her food as I know she probably won't be able to enjoy it much amidst the pain. Any suggestions on what I could get her that she will enjoy and help her through the tough times? I was thinking book or dvd but I don't know what 10 year old girls watch or read nowadays. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
If you want a gift that is going to last and that she will enjoy, might I suggest that you buy her a small piece of jewlery. At this age girls love little trinkets that dangle and shine, (al least mine did) perhaps you could buy her a charm bracelet, along with her first special charm. Check with her parents first before buying any jewlery to make sure she dosen't have any allergies to metals. Afterwards, each year on her birthday you can buy a new charm to be added to her bracelet. I was about 12 when Mom bought me mine. my first charm was a horse followed by a saddle then boots you get the picture! Now -a -days you can find all kinds of charms for all kinds of tastes. If this is not to your liking than perhaps you could get her a journal and a special pen with her name engraved on it. That was another thing I found that children love seeing their names on things. I think that something of a more personal nature makes a child feel much better ! From my own experience I have found that these types of gifts are loved and cherished forever by those who receive them.
