Pick up the toys.

tinker79 by tinker79 Talking Back(September 2006) (rank 99th)

Recently my hubby stepped on one of our kids toys. It was a  little BMX bike. The handle bar went right through his callus on his  foot. It was bleeding and really sore.  I couldn't believe that it went in his foot and made a mark 1/4 in diameter

.He couldn't even  walk or jump on the trampoline without it hurting.  So needles to say that bike went right to the garbage. Imagine if it was one of  the kids that stepped on it? But I guess I should have made the kids pick up the toys when they were through playing with them.

How many of us step on our kids toys during a day? For me it is lots. Everyday I think.   So today I was on a mission to find toys that would hurt to be stepped on. I found a bunch of planes, cars, trucks  that were metal that got put in a " when the boys are older'' box.  I can't believe the kids had so many of toys that would/could end up hurting them. Also that I let them have them.Myself , I buy toys that would stand up to the abuse that kids put them through and would not wreck in 6 months down the line. Ironically enough that seems to be metal and wood. (toys that could hurt them)

Also I came across a bunch of broken toys, that got thrown out also. How many parents go through the kids toys to make sure all the parts are still there? How about the stuffed animals, making sure they aren't  ripped and torn?

The Chore List Fixed it.
We had the same problem in the middle of the night. We would always be standing on little cars left on the carpet. Then I set up the chore and reward list last week and the problem appears to be fixed for now.

I liked the  way you said for now! We did that too and it worked for about a month. The only way to make sure is too vaccum the rug at night for me. LOL

Good luck with yours! Thanks for the comment!

missing bits...
My step daughter has toys that I had no idea she even had... One day I decided that it was high time we cleaned up her room.. And I mean really clean it.. My gosh the rubbish she had... I had no idea that there were so many little bits and bobs.. Why on earth she wanted to keep all of it was beyond me...  Each time I picked something up I said where is the rest of it... If she could not tell me out it went.. She was ok with that becaue her room looked great afterwards.. For at least the next two hours anyway....

missing bits...

I know, it surprises me where they get all these knick-knacks. I find myself asking ''Did I buy this?'' LOL. You know your kids have too much stuff when...

Thanks for the comment!

Spring cleaning

I made a note to go through all of Josh's toy's after his 1st birthday and am plannimg pn doing so at every Christmas otherwise they end ulp with too many toys as he was given a lot just after he was born.

I have found that this last clean up I found quite a few toys that were missing pieces and teddies that had holes in them.

Spring cleaning

That will work just before they get so much stuff on those special days. Toys and toys, they get so much of them. It helps getting rid of the broken ones.

Thanks for the comment!

Toys

When you first have kids you buy buy buy and buy some more, well I did anyway, now I'm regretting it. I am constantly going through the kids toys and getting rid of ones that are broken or they don't play with and yet everyday I hurt myself by stepping on or tripping over some toy thats been left on the floor.  I now have taught my kids if they don't pick them up and put them away when they have finished playing with them that they all go into a garbage bag and into the garage.  Its working, all I have to do is get out a bag and they start packing up quick smart.

OUch!
Hope your hubby gets better soon! I've stepped on my boy's toys and they can hurt...I put them away when he is done with them (he's just 10 months) but this is one thing I will be teaching him!
