Eat Your Frozen Veggies

tracey by tracey Young Parent(September 2006) (rank 13th)

Here's a little something I've re-discoved. Kids love frozen peas. I had forgotten. When my oldest daughter was a toddler she and some of her toddler friends would eat them by the bowlfull on warm summer days. How could I have forgotten that? Well, ust recently she asked for some.

And then my youngest daughter wanted some. I wasn't sure what she'd think but since then frozen peas are her snack of choice. Go figure. Talk about a perfect thing to munch on! Since feeding toddlers can be challenging I thought this tip might work for you. Can't wait to hear what your kids think!

I also read somewhere that a fun way to present cucumbers to kids is to chill them, slice them long ways (in big chunky pieces) and stick them on popsicle sticks. I'm going to try that one next!

Re: Eat Your Frozen Veggies

My two love frozen peas as well - they never eat them when I cook them, but are happy to have them as a pre-dinner snack while I'm cooking and at least i know they've filled up on the veggies first!

Works for us
I never thought of doing this with my first two kiddies buy now my third loves them.  When I am making tea if he is hanging around and getting hungry I put some frozen peas and corn in a bowl and it keeps him occupied while I finish off tea.  I never ate them frozen as a child myself  but I've tried them now and they are nice :)

That's is great advice. I remember when I was younger that I would eat frozen pea's lol. There is something else too, but I can't remember exactly what it is. I'll have to try and remember!

frozen corn
Also try frozen CORN! My cousins when I was younger would ONLY eat them that way. AJ likes them both... luckily! I still hate peas though - haha! And since my boyfriend and I are both picky eaters - when we eat salad with dinner, which the little man reallly doesn't like - I take that opportunity to make him peas or broccoli (something we won't eat). Then he's not asking why we aren't eating them too.

Hmmm. I don't think so. It was a friend of mine that gave them to our kids. But, I have tried them and they are really good! : )
