To use a Pacifier (Dummy) or not? |

Most parents worry about if they should use a pacifier (
dummy) or not.
My experience is that using a pacifier with Codi (our son) has been very useful, and I am glad we chose to.
We introduced Codi to a pacifier very early on, and it
is a great tool to use if he is getting a bit upset. He quietens down straight away and feels comforted. It is especially good when he is teething, I think it gives him something to chew on.
He actually only likes one type, they are "Mam orthodontic teething dummy". I found a link to them
here. My wife introduced Codi to the Mam orthodontic teething dummies as they are supposed to really help with teething (which we can confirm now that they really do!). It has certainly helped limit the number of times we have needed to apply bonjela teething gel and/or baby panadol.
Note: We plan to ween him of the pacifier in a few months time. He is currently 17 months old and is using it very seldom during the day. He mainly just sleeps with it now. I wrote an article on our sleeping routine
here.
UPDATE: Just after his second birthday he completely gave up the pacifier all by himself. One night he just forgot to ask for it before going to bed and so we decided that was it. We no longer suggested it and he no longer requested it.
