Family Traditions: Penny Cards

tinker79 by tinker79 Talking Back(September 2006) (rank 99th)

This is a tradition that will give your child a history of their life

Each year on or near your child's birthday,  tape or glue a penny with that year's date on a card or a piece of paper.

On the dated card, write a short

letter to your child including

Things they have accomplished, things they have taught you, pet's names, teacher's names, something they made for you, things they struggled with, favorite activities or foods, friends for that year, funny things they have done,  etc The list goes on and on.

Give the penny card to your child on his birthday and than put it in his memory box for safe keeping.

I love doing this activity for the kids. It is soo much fun to look back upon, and to see how much they have changed through the years. This is one of our family traditions that my mother started for us kids.

Hope you have fun doing this!!!

My Dear Sweet Child Letter Box

I do this with my daughter and booklets.  I write a letter a few days after her birthday on beautiful ivory colored booklets.  There are 21 booklets.  On her 21st birthday I will begin mailing out a booklet each day 21 days before her 21st birthday.  On the 21st birthday I will give her the box to put the booklets in.  She will have a letter from me with a few pictures from that year.

The penny card is awesome as well!
