Repeat, Repeat, Repeat

pfallerj by pfallerj Proud Parent(September 2006) (rank 103rd)

Today's first time parenting tip - Repeat your baby's favorite songs and stories over and over again

Repetition helps build memory skills and is fun for your baby. They like the familiar, and if there's a song or a story they seem to love, you should read or sing

it to them again and again. It creates a familiar environment for them. Even though you may feel silly going through the same thing, your baby will love you for it. And they just might have some fun while they're at it.

even as adults...
repetition is how we learn for exams and so on when at school and work and night classes etc.  We change the word to revision though.  But the more revision, or repetition we do of the topics the better we remember it.

Agreed....
Some times I like to take an awake nap. Which means I lie on the sofa and close my eyes with out actually falling asleep. I Have the room very baby proof so it allows for Francis to play with out me having to worry about him hurting himself.....  So I don't feel guilty about taking a nap and if he wants me he just jumps on me. And I am usually listening to him...  Today he worked out how to turn on the cd player...  His favorite music is always disc one, and it is the only button he seems to be able reach at the moment,( it sits on a desk and there is a chair in front of the rest of the buttons) but the cd is played often and we dance and sing together. ANyway he turned it on by himself today and the mintue I heard it I looked up and there he was singing along with the song clapping and dancing.... And I am sure in his head he was singing along with the words.. When he got to the la la la bit, well he had it down pat....

Repetition

Repetition is how we learn- we learn new skills by repeating them, kids learn everything through repetition! Thats why you will see some kids shows (blues clues is a big offender) that repeat the exact same episode all week long.

I agree
As a speech pathologist I often suggested to parent that they repeat songs and stories and even phrases. Great advice
