I have an old photocopied handout - author unknown that I really love. It is called 100 Messages for Encouraging Kids.
It gets boring saying the same thing all the
time so I used to give it out to give people some other ideas on ways to praise a child. I won't type them all out but here are a few of my favourites
- Tremendous!
- Your on the right track now!
- You did a lot of work today
- Now you have the hang of it!
- Superb!
- Thats great!
- I knew you could do it!
- You really make my job fun!
- Keep on trying
- You've figured it out fast!
- Great work!
- Great remembering!
- That's first class work!
- Good Thinking!
- You must have been practicing!
- You did that really well!
And some suggestions for when the child makes an error
- Have another go
- Good try
- Nearly right
- Your getting closer all the time
- I liked the way you tried to do that!
- Your almost there, keep trying!
