link between obesity and meat you eat

cleannut by cleannut Talking Back(September 2006) (rank 303rd)
i'm not a vegetarian  or a health nut by anymeans.  i truely believe thier is a corolation between obesity, once rare diseases now more common. kids having behaveral problems , adhd for example. more so than we did 30 yrs ago. what is different today that wasn't as prevelant
30 yrs ago. population.  to keep up with the supply and demand of food, farmers needed to get their cows chickens pig to grow at a faster rate , so our meat department at the grocery store  would have a great selection  to feed all of us.  farmers pump thier animal full of antibiotics and growth hormans to make the animals get bigger faster.  every bite our kids eat  of that meat ingested is those antibiotics and growth hormans. that can't be good for such small kids.  we think our kids drinking milk makes their bone stronger leaving them, healthier.  to get cows to produce more milk at a faster rate again chemicals given  to these cows and your kids drinking it.  i truely believe behavorial problems with kids and those rare illnesses are becoming more common.  one can't be niaive and think us ingesting all what the farmers give their animal wouldn't  have side affects on  our health and well being.  girls as young as 9 are mentrating. . kids are bigger now than they were 30 yrs ago.  antibiotics that used to work well 30 yrs ago doesn't work today. why?  because the meat we eat had strong antibiotics. atibiotics we get from our doctors for an illness has to be stronger than the one the farmers gave their animals .obesity may  exist due to fast food and junk food, even lack of excersize.  that can be remedied.  what is more difficult is if you decide to cook meals at home  are you really eating healthier. organic is one way to go and could get expensive. feed your kids healthy food  when their young  to differ health problems later. my 2 older sons were not big meat eaters or dairy products. they are the right weight and size they should be. my 3 son always  loved is big ol tbone steak drank milk like no tommorrow. active to boot. he's 15yrs old, size 13 shoe and over 200 lbs. my older son in the last year started eating more meat and dairy. he's shot up 4 inches in 1 yr and he's 20 yrs old. i noticed the difference when he started eating the meat and dairy. this just confimed my suspisions and i thought i'd pass on that little bit of tested knowledge. what do you guys think?

I heard that meat should fit in the palm of your hand.

That is plenty for one serving.

I would not no about obiesity but I'm sure everything in moderation would be fine.  I'm sure the over weight people just don't sit down to just meat.

Eating Spare Ribs would certainly be a heart killer.  I have to watch my animal fat due to hereditry cholsterol problem.  By no means I'm over weight.

We have to remember that sometimes being overweight is not a eating disorder.

Subject Fast food world and lack of exersise is the main culprit

I agree with the others.  As parents we need to evaluate the amount of time our children spend exercising and the amount of fast (or junk foods) they are consuming.  There are many factors involved.

Some relation

I agree that the wrong diet and life style leads to all sorts of health disorders. But, in healthy children with a healthy balanced diet, there will always be times when they crave a diet higher in meat and dairy. It usually coincides with growth spurts or mental/intellectual development. Meat of course is high in protein as is dairy which is also high in fat. We do need some saturated fats in our diet for health brain and nerve development. As long as the stuff isn't deep fried and is accompanied with loads of fresh veges and fruit. We need high protein diets when we are growing to support tissue growth. Vegetarians will also crave higher protein diets when going through growth spurts and will adjust their diets accordingly. Our bodies, if we really listen to them, know what they need. Children, when given healthy options are an easy way of observing this. You think that they have settled in a routine and then all of a sudden, they want more, more often! My belief is to keep food whole and real. If it looks like you may have been able to pluck it straight from the earth, it is good.

Eat and exercise
It's really scary if you think about all those chemicals sort of things. But I believe in balancing between what you eat and exercises...and the metabolisme of each individual. For example, I could eat the same amount as my husband, but since every day I move so much with the 2 kids and house works...and little exercise, I didn't put weight but he did. But yes I agree with organic foods (Not that I use all organics, but I slightly try to move). So, apart eating healthy food we also need good exercise.
