My money saving tips

peachynowamum by peachynowamum Talking(September 2006) (rank 197th)

I very proud of myself i come up with these ideas all by myself although they have probably more than likely already been done by other b4 me.  If find using cloth nappies cheapest all you need to buy is nappy liners and nappy san which is much cheaper than disposables but what about about baby wipes. i found that by buying a couple packets of chux you know the kind u use for dishes and putting them in a container of water by the baby change table they work just as well then all you have to do is chuck them in the nappy bucket when ur done it take no extra effort to wash those as well and reuse them than it does to wash ur nappies or even ur clothes.

another money saver is when u cook dinner at night time boil a couple extra veges then chuck them in the blender instant baby food and hate to say it guys a packet of frozen peas or a kilo of carrotts or some avocado is much cheaper than tin of baby food....

more saving ideas are buy second hand clothing for bubs they r forever growing and wont fit in to them for long and toys at christmas as littlies are more interested in the box pick up ssome big boxes from you local super market and buy some cheap second hand toys and stick it in them...

Save some time as well
The extra vegies are a winner, my son wouldn't eat tinned food after feeding fresh, he became very picky which sometines makes it hard when you are out and about but much cheaper.  An extension to the extra vegies, after blending the vegies spoon some into ice cube trays and freeze it, then the nights you don't have vegies or something your bubs can eat you can just pop out some cubes and heat it up.  That way you can do a couple of days worth and not have to get the blender out every night, saving you a bit of time.  Becuase we know time is everything with little feet running around

Me too
I made my own baby food also. Talk about the money I saved. Thank heavens. I put mine in ice cube trays, and froze them. They always eem to be the right amount. Although I had two on the go one blue for meat and the other white  for veggies. Sure helped out. Although I did tend to go overboard and make lots ahead of time. Sure did help when we had other things on the go.

I did that too.
Making your own baby food is a huge money saver.  I also simply cooked extra food and threw it in the blender.  Although sometimes I ended up making my daughter's food at another time, but we finally got it all sorted out.  I have never bought a jar of baby food.  It just seemed like too much money to spend when I could make it myself and know exactly what was in it.  I bought a baby food cookbook which had a lot of very yummy recipes, some we even ate.

Good Ideas
Anything that saves us money these days is a good idea. I like the extra vegies idea especially.
