listen to your gut

peachynowamum by peachynowamum Talking(September 2006) (rank 198th)

For a few weeks after giving birth to my daughter I had a pain in my gut that I thought was normal. Everyone else said so to even the health nurses said it was just contracting back to normal. Well as you can guess it wasn't! Turns out I had PID a very severe pelvic infection which if not treated correctly causes infertility.  Luckily for me i ignored the nurse and went and sought medical advice from a doctor and she did and internal examination took a few swabs and dada i got diagnosed and treated properly. my suggestion is dont ignore you r gut feeling there could be something wrong you never know unless u get checked....

i would love to hear other examples of where ones gut feeling has been right!!!!!

second opinions

It's always best to get second opinions, and if you think it's still not right, then ask some one else

PID

PID's are sooooo scary! I had a sever one when I was fifteen, but was told it was just hormones kicking in etc. by the time I was diagnosed it was in such a state that I was told I was already infertile. Well looks like that was incorrect, but it was so scary.

I found out i couldn't have children. My stomach was BLOATED and was sore to the touch, even when it was just my t-shirt rubbing over the skin as I moved. I cried my eyes out for what seems like forever. i sank into a deep depression.

The only reason i got tested was because I missed a period. Period tests will come up negative. but I still didn't get my period until the infalammation had been treated.

my gut is right too

I came home from hospital the same day I had my baby and that night he was all grizzling and crying ALL night. I rang the hospital and they said it was normal for babies to be grizzly for the first few days.  This continued for a week, he sounded like he had a pain in his belly but everyone told me it was normal and he would grow out of it.  My husband would sleep all day so that he could stay up all night walking the floor with our son to keep him quiet enough for me to get some rest.  It was really stressful as my 1st son didnt do this and I just knew there was a problem! we got a new midwife in the second week and I told her what had been happening.  It turned out I wasnt feeding him properly, he was getting to much of the fore milk from my breast and it was giving him a pain in the belly!  By then it was too late though, i was too tired to continue with the breastfeeding and we put him on formula..... The first night was a success and I actually got 4 hrs sleep!
