Waking Up Wet

KatieW by KatieW Walking(April 2006) (rank 500+)

Have you thought about changing her nappy in the night?

If your daughter sleeps soundly enough you'll be able to change her in the night while she's still sleeping.  My son (aged 2) has had an occasional dirty nappy in the night which I've discovered when going in

to check on him before I go to bed.  I've been able to successfully change him without him waking.

I wouldn't recommend putting another bigger nappy on over the top, because if the first nappy is leaking out the top or sides the bigger nappy on top won't really catch the wet.  The only way a bigger nappy over the top would catch wet is if the smaller one underneath was actually leaking through the front or bottom.

I've always thought Huggies were the best brand to stop leakage of both wet and dirty nappies, but you don't say what brand you're using so you may aready be using them.

Works for us

Our little girl seemed to manage a dirty nappy most nights for a good few months - it seemed like she would only have a poo when she relaxed enough to go to sleep. Fortunately, we could lift her and change her either without her waking, or stirring so little that she settled straight back down again. Now, 5 month old Nyle never seems to be asleep long enough for me to be able to change him whilst still asleep! Maybe one day! He feeds so much that his nappies just cannot cope. I have moved him up to the next size to see if that will help, but now he has just got in to the habit of sucking rather than feeding, he isn't quite so wet.

Late Night Nappy / Diaper Change
I think you're right. Seems like the only alternative.

Though, my daughter doesn't sleep as soundly as your son :). She wakes, but she goes back to sleep quickly enough for it to be manageable.

Thanks very much for the suggestion!
