Nap Times

pfallerj by pfallerj Proud Parent(October 2006) (rank 97th)

Today's first time parenting tip - Expect less nap time as your baby gets older

It seems that once you get your baby on a nice schedule of feeding, sleeping, changing, etc. They go and do something that completely makes you rework everything.

My son would nap

three times a day, usually a couple two hour naps and then one shorter half hour one. It was pretty nice because it gave my wife and I a chance to do something during the day if we wanted to, or we could just relax and watch a movie or read a book.

Lately though, he's cut down his nap time significantly. Now he's down to a two hour nap in the morning, and hour nap in the afternoon, and then he's good all the way until he goes to bed.

Which is fine, because now that he's more active, we get more playtime with him. And he seems to be sleeping a little bit longer at night, which is just fine by us.

Sounds familiar
my daughter did this also, but she would go for one big sleep from about 10.30 to 1.30 and then when she turned about 21 months, she stopped sleeping in the day and could go from 7 am to 7 pm every day with any worries.

So true..
my baby is the same.  I never know what to expect from him so it is hard to get much done in a reasonably relaxed atmosphere.  I rush everything because I never know when he will wake.  Having a nap myself in the day has turned out to be absolutely impossible.  Sometimes he does a big sleep at lunch time, sometimes in the morning and sometimes not at all.  You would think his sleeping habit during the day would give some indication as to what he will do that night..... NOPE!  Some nights he sleeps for 5 hrs, some 6hrs some 8hrs???  He is all over the shop!  drives me burko!!!

Nap

My daughter only seems to nap when its her lunch time feeding(while drinking her bottle) and in the afternoon feeding(while doing the same, drinking the bottle) as soon as I know she's asleep. I pull the bottle out and she's maybe napping for like 30 minutes.. It all depends on how tired she is. But before, she would nap after her feeding in the morning for like an hour or more and then in the afternoon for an hour or more.

I kinda like it, she's up more and has more energy!
