There's no faster way into a child's heart than to enter into their world of play. If it's been awhile since you gave the little kid inside you a chance to come out and play, here are six simple tips that will put a smile on your child's face.

- Tell knock-knock jokes. Even if your children are too young to tell a joke that makes good sense, they will take great joy in trying. Over time, they will learn the art of putting a good pun together, and knock-knock jokes are a great place to start. Let yourself laugh long and hard at the pure absurdity of it all.
- Have a dance party. Nothing chases crabbiness away like turning up the radio and shakin' what your mama gave you. Our best parties happen in the kitchen where everyone can let their hair down and show off their favorite moves. No matter what the age of your little ones, everyone can move to the music. Even five minutes will put a smile on even the littlest faces.
- Silly up your vocabulary. There's a language of silliness most appreciated by the munchkin crowd. Words like super-duper, okey-dokey, silly-billy are a good place to start. Ask your kids to add more to your list from the forays on the school playground. Everyone in your family will love the comic book exclamations as you go throughout your day.
- Be a poet who didn't even know it. When routine has everyone worn out and grumpy, consider calling your Madeleine "Wadeleine". Say yes, of course, you'd love to get your kids some milk and mookies, and see who has a terrific time setting you straight. Another variation on this theme is to ask your child in mock seriousness, "I'm sorry, did you just ask me for a pracker?"
- Have your own super silly photo shoot. Crowd in together and fill your frame with a series of silly self-portraits. Hold the camera out in front of you and snap your heart away. Your kids will love to see all the funny faces mom has to offer.
- Snuggle up. Take some time for an extravaganza of love and affection. Kiss eyelids, armpits, tummies and toes. Make your show of love dramatic and playful. Quieter children may prefer silent snuggling where hugs and whispers are the language of love.
