Cot to bed

Anonymous Author (October 2006)

The easiest way we found in getting miss3.7 into her own bed from the cot was to let her get the feel of our bed first. We would let her play on our bed, sit with us on our bed etc etc. When we thought she was comfortable and didn't look so scarey in her face expressions, we went out and bought her a bed, and put it up the same day. We made sure she was with us when we bought the bed, and made quite sure she was with us while putting her bed together. Miss3.7 also helped us pick out the bed and put it together. She thouroughly enjoyed her self.

We were a bit sceptical when sleep time came at night time, but i put her to bed like normal, and she was fine about it. At various stages of us putting the bed together though, we were praising her and letting her know " wow, this is your very own bed " and ' wow, aren't you a big girl now. You've got your own bed. ' It worked like a dream. She's never looked back now on the cot, and we are both very proud on how she took to the bed very easily.

from cot to bed
i moved my kids from cot to bed when they started climbing out of their cot, they took to it very easy with no fuss, you can also get a bed for them that is the same size as a cot nowadays, they look cute and arent so daunting for kids.

from cot to bed

I did the same.  But she already had a cot-bed.  So when it came time for her to climb over the sides we took the sides off, and it was still her same bed, just slightly different looking.  And yes, she also helped and enjoyed every minute.  We travel a lot and she is often in proper beds or matresses ont he floor depending where we are and we have never had a problem settling her.  Just stick to the good old routine, and when she changes it make sure it stays as she likes, cuz that is what will work.
Peace

Cot to bed

I am so sure my little boy when it is his time to go from cot to bed will be in and out of it like a yoyo... LOL he tries to get out of his cot now...  Thankfully he is still so small.. But I'll be giving this a go when it is his turn.
