Pretend play |

I just cannot get my head around pretend play.
It's like my gifts they are always practical I find it a waste of money otherwise.
I bought a cubby with a fridge and stove for my chidren and both love it but I just cannot get myself
out there to play with them. It's not hot by any means it's under the patio. Sometimes it's time that is needed but I just cannot seem to pretend. When a child sees you doing the everyday tasks like housework, cooking/baking, caring for the family etc they will take notice and will then modile that behaviour.
You should be consistent and show your children what behaviour you want them to model. For example my husband and I do the housework and cooking to show our son that it is not only the woman's role to do these jobs.
Whatever the pretend play you want them to do, buy them or make them the pieces to help them along for example a stove, kid sized broom etc.
When I was growing up I had a cubby house that I had pretend furinture in so I could play house. Noone came out and pllayed with me, but I modled my behaviour off my parents.
