Milk issues with babies, and other alternatives

surveythis by surveythis Walking(October 2006) (rank 500+)

More and more parents have issues with giving cow's milk to their babies and children; what is the alternative?

Nowadays, cow's milk as so much hormones added to it that it might not be somewhat harmful to children; did you know that before the 50's a cow would produce

2 000 litres per year, and nowadays it produces over 50 000 litres a year. Sure, you will say that most farms do not directly give hormones to their cattle, although it was done for so many years so their genetical code as been changed now, and nothing we can do.

So soy milk is one of the alternative and as a lot of benefits, although it has been heavily genetically modified, so the 2 better options, I believe are rice milk or coconut milk. Both have some benefits, but sine I`m not a doctor I will let you discover the benefits.

Another option for new borns who eat more than their share of breast milk is carrot juice made with an extractor. For those of you who would rather not go to the formula, the carrot juice should be one of the first introduced. Make sure to use a good quality extractor to make the juice, not to let the hard parts through. Also make sure to use organic carrots; babies don`t need to be exposed to chemicals such as pesticides, insecticides, and other bad products. Pears are also one of the most recommended to introduce first.

Talking about chemicals and bad products, check out my other advice about Chemicals around the house.

Cheers, Rene

Can I ask why soy is not recommended for young boys?
My son has eczema and skin sensitivities to milk so I only give him soy drink.

Milk

From what I know it is not "bad", but there is something about the level of Eostrogene. Also  the fact that soy became really popular and wasn't regulated for years, so a lot of the cultures became genetically modified, many additives to grow faster and so on. So you have to look for organic products. Rice milk is a very good alternative.

Our daughter had eczema problems as well and it's completely gone since we use the rice drink.
