removing soap residue in your clothes, no need to buy fabric softner sheets anymore

cleannut by cleannut Talking Back(October 2006) (rank 306th)

have you ever put on a item of clothing and found you were ichy. thats soap and fabric softner buildup. strip all the residue out of your clothes by adding 1 cup of vinegar to the rince cycle of washing machine.  no need to use fabric softner sheets in dryer.

instaead, get a clean rag. dip it in liquid fabric softener.  squeeze 90% of fabric softner out of rag. when you go to dry your clothes in the dryer, throw the rag in the dryer. dry as usual. your clothes come out soft.  repeat this everytime you have xclothes to dry. unlike the fabric softner sheet, rag can be used several times before you need to soak it again in the liquid softner.  anyone who has kids, knows how much laundry they have. fabric softner sheets  cost a pretty penny after awhile.  if your one of those people who use a clothe line to dry your clothes. your clothes are completely dry.so wet the rag  with fabric softner again , it'll take the stiffness out of cloths. only put dryer on to fluff clothes for 10 minutes.  think of the money you saved on fabric sheets ,  not to mention your power bill. a  clothes dryer takes up alot of power. 10 minutes verses 60 minutes to dry and fluff your clothes. there is no  debate here as to which is more ecconomical.  if you like your fabric softner sheets , it's not just meant for the clothes dryer. put a sheet of fabric softner in your clother dresser drawers. these leaves your clothes smelling fresh. works great in your kids clothing drawer.

epsom salts also
epsom salts is also good to run through a wash instead of fabric softener.
I occassionally run an empty hot cycle through my machine and leave it soak over night with the epsom salts in it, it disolves all the oily human skin cell and sweat deposits that build up with the fabric softener gunk and cleans everything out nice a new....even the drain hose!

Vinegar
I strip nappies and clothes with vinegar and bi carb. Fabric conditioner actaully coats the material making it less absorbant - no good for nappies or towels in particular.
