Cats and your children

Marlena by Marlena Young Parent(October 2006) (rank 31st)
When I found out I was pregnant the first thing I though about was how was my cat gonna react to the baby.  Our cat Corona was a bit on the phyco side and didn't like outsiders in our house.  So when we brought Austin home we were surpised to
see that she was fine with him.  ow that Austin is 22 months and very rough we noticed tat she is a bit scared runs away or hisses when she is mad.  So we thought about it and we realized that she is all nice to us so because we feed her.  So now we let Austin feed her and she is all over him rubbing up agains him, sitting on the couch with him.  She doesn't run away when he comes in the room and Austin evnjoys feedign her everyday. It is a bond of friendship now.

psycho cats
Hi,
Woohoo finally someone who has a cat as mental as ours...it too hates outsiders and everyone was worried when our daughter was born.  She came into the house and the cat just accepted her.  Watch what happens if a outsider threatens your son...the cat will stand between the baby and the person and will not let them past.   This is what our cat did to a friends child that for some reason it hates.
If bluey has had enough of Jalan trying to pat her or annoys him he just slinks away and hides.

We love our pshcyo cat.....shame everyone else doesn't
Shame bluey is neutered...we could have bred them and possibly gotten normal kittens or ones that really are guard dogs hehehhehe
Luv Deb

cats and kids
I'm glad you found a solution that worked for you, it's very important for pets and children to be able to live in peace together, just as they would with the rest of the family. It greatly minimizes the risk of an incident where one or both of them end up getting hurt, IMO.

cats and babies
I think your cat could smell your scent on your new baby, and that's why your cat didn't run away or anything like that. Cat's are very clever and can smell things that we can't. Prolly the reason why your cat ( i love cat's by the way ) didn't make a fuss when you did bring your child home from the hospital is because he / she prolly sensed the baby was yours. I hope this makes sense.
