Hallowe'en Advice

Neeters by Neeters Talking(October 2006) (rank 500+)

Hallow'een should be fun for all kids.  Unfortunately food (particularily nut) allergies can make it difficult and frustrating for youngsters.  For the last few years, I have  tried to make an extra effort to find treats that everyone can enjoy.  Fortunately many candy manufacturers now have peanut free

options for consumers.  I quite often will buy  treats that I know have not comeinto contact with nuts.

Take the extra time and check your labels, and I always ask at the door if anyone has any nut allergies, that way I can be sure to hand them a treat they can actually eat.

Some good examples of nut free treats.

Freezies -- I recommed that you look for the freezie pops with the harder plastic shell.  I hand them out thawed, so all they have to do is throw them in the freezer.

Cans of Pop--  Definitely a treat for lots of kids, as most kids love pop.

Fast food gift certificates-  Especially for places Like McDonalds.

Potato Chips.

Try to stay away from giving out homemade treats as they will most likely end up in the garbage, no matter how well intentioned you are.

Playdoh
This year we are giving out playdoh.  Kids love to play with it, the allergy problem is a little less of a problem and no trips to the dentist are required for overuse.

What an awesome idea.  I wouldn't have thought of that one.  Thanks for sharing.
