The Ant and the Grasshopper
Illustrated by Scott Roberto
In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.
"Why not
come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"
"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same."
"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When the winter came the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.
Then the Grasshopper knew...
It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.
I used to love Aesop's fables and this is one of them!!! I believe that they teach us a necessary part of life. in this case I teaches us that we need to forward think more, prepare for those tough times ahead of us. As a parent you obviously know life isn't always easy and it sometimes throws us a curve ball but if we prepare and save in advance we are ready for those times and they don't seam so tough! So If you seam to have more money than normal save! If you have friends start talking to them more often (you never know when they come in handy) and spend more time with your kids encourage them and give them advice when they need it you never know what might happen or change and it is best to be prepared! For more of Aesop's Fables you can go to
