Underwear for us pregnant ladies

AllthenewsIneed by AllthenewsIneed Talking(October 2006) (rank 191st)

As this is my first pregnancy and my baby is not yet born I haven't got any advice to offer the experienced parents but I do have a little bit of advice for any other first time still pregnant mums out there.

I've always been more comfortable in vest

tops rather than bra's but with all the changes that pregnancy has made to my body already I decided to buy some maternity bra's for extra support.

I went to a reputable shop and got fitted by a professional who made the whole fitting very relaxed and normal.  I bought two bra's for now so I can wash and wear as my size still might change as the pregnacy goes on.

From the moment I put one on all the aches and pains in my breasts and back disappeared and I felt a bit more energetic as well.  I felt quite shy about having a stranger measure me for a bra but the lady who did the fitting does it every day and was able to offer me some good advice.  And the physical difference it has made to me was instant so it was worth risking being embarrassed as it has made the last four weeks of my pregnancy so much more comfortable.

I haev always wanted to be fitted for the right bra, but do you haev to pay them to do ti and are the bras afordable where you get sized, or can you get sized and buy a bra at a cheaper store?  I know you might not know how it is where I live but in your experence where you live.

Marlena, if you go to La Senza they do it for free. I got a fitting done there after Cadence was born.. a few months after. I went in, looked at bras and they asked if they could help me in any way.. So I said could you do a bra fitting? And they are like sure we can. I asked them first if it would cost anything and she's like no, it's free!

La Senza usually has a sale for bras and panties.. A good sale.. But yes for sure, they will do a bra fitting for you!

Not only bra's but actuall undies, knickers, panties what ever you want to call them, I still wear my maternity knickers, I had to go back and get a smaller size but I tell you not only did the ones I have look great but were comfortable...

But that is not why I am commenting...  The advice made me think that isn't it funny how we are shy about getting mesured for a bra when you think of the types of exames we have to go through with a Gyno... Pap smear, and of course the other lovely tests through pregnancy... And trust me when I say this, if you feel shy about breast feeding in public, after all the nurses and doctors come to show you how to breast feed your baby, you will never ever be shy again.. They poke and they prod, make sure you baby is sucking...   I am no longer shy when it comes to the tests the doctors have to do....

That is so true about the shy thing. I found it really bizarre how friends kept asking how my perineal area was healing, and if I had any probs with my nipples, guys included.

Wearing bra's
It does make you feel more comfortable if you do have the right bra on during pregnancy, and better about yourself.
