this is what i did

rshshly by rshshly Standing(April 2006) (rank 500+)
the day i took my daughters bottle away from her , i started giving her sippie cups. i threw all her bottles away. she didn't like the idea at first and would not drink from a sippie. but eventually she got thirsty and realized her bottle was gone and if she
wanted something to drink -it would have to be out of a cuppie. my ped. recommended , that if he must have a bottle , only put water in it, but something he really likes in the sippie cup. he will eventually either drink a lot of water of give up on the bottle and graduate to the sippie. ley me know if this works for you/helps.

Bottles
As soon as our  daughter was on solids 100% and had no formula. We took away her bottles. She is now 2 and 8 months old and has had no problems about bottles. She didn't even fuss when we first took them away. We were just lucky that it was so easy for us.

good idea
This seems like a good idea...babies have a tendency to be stuck in their ways..LOL. My only concern is if you only put water in the bottle to deter from wanting the bottle, will that turn them away from water altogether. I know as a child, I drank very little water and I want to start good habits early in my child and drinking water is one of those things I think is a good habit to develop.

Good tip!
Nice ideas about transition from bottle to sippy cup :) The formatting could be better and should not be hard to do with a click of the "edit" button, or just let me know and I can tidy up ther layout a bit for you ;)

Re: Good tip!
agreed - good info - maybe smoe work needed on layout - but I still gave it a 4.

well done for being so brave! throwing away the bottles made it hard for the baby to get a bottle any longer! :)

Let's not be too picky.

I do agree that the layout of the advice could be better, but it is still a good tip. Parents come in all sizes and shapes and come from different educational level.  We cannot all be writers. Let us overlook the flaw for now. If the advice is barely understandable, then by all means let's comment on the grammar and layout, otherwise let's learn from Thumper's mom in Bambi. If we have nothing good to say, than we should not say anything at all.
