Today's first time parenting tip - Keep your baby clear of newspaper

Newspaper ink can be potentially poisonous for infants, so make sure you keep the sunday news out of reach. Babies love to play with the crinkling paper, but since it's so fragile and thin its very easy

to pull off a piece and swallow it, or potentially choke.

Sources???
Thanks for the info, I had never heard about the ink, is it potentially posionous in small amounts as well? Is there anyway you'd be willing to share your sources on this one (the ink, not the choking after two kids I totally get the choking thing ;) ) I really like to keep up to date on these things and just have never run across the literature on this one! Thanks a bunch!

See Your Doctor
Oh, hon, it is not a weird or gross habit. The eating of non-food items in times of stress or otherwise is a sign of what can be a serious medical condition. You should probably make an appointment to see your physician, your body is most likely lacking vital nutrients which causes your urges to eat the paper. Your physician can help you overcome this.

See Your Doctor

Well I suppose this is part of why i am getting treated for anxiety. Before treatment I used to pass out at the drop of a hat. I suppose your right cause the strange thing is I don't pass out as often now or eat paper as often. and it was ne paper if i was reading drawing writing i would tear off a piece and put it in my mouth and the strange thing is I don't even realise im doing it until someone points it out to me usualy my husband or mum.

just out of curiousity your saying this is not weird how do you know this? I only ask because i dont know anyone else who has a habbit like this and at 21 I think I should have grown out of it by now lol

oh yeah and do you know if my coeliacs could be related to this problem, i mean i am 5'8 and pre pregnancy weighed only 48 kilo now i weigh 52 kilo i only had her 9 weeks ago and i am already back in a size 6. I cant seam to keep it on and i have been trying for years to gain it. the doctors and i mean gp and specialists think i should weigh between 60-65 kilo and they have never mentioned the possibility of craving none food items.

See Your Doctor

I don't know anyone else personally that has this problem but I do know it's not horribly uncommon. In the US it's a standard focus during pregnancy - I'm suprised your OB/GYN didn't check with you about this during your pregnancy. Here it's on every form you have to fill out with your doctor especially during pregnancy because it's often exaggerated because your body is in higher demand of nutrients.

As for your weight, I can't speculate as to what's going on with your body you really have to see your doctor about that but I wouldn't be suprised if the two are related, one most likely does not cause the other but related I can see entirely.
