Pregnancy And Strech Marks

cleannut by cleannut Talking Back(October 2006) (rank 110th)
I wish i'd known this when i was pregnant 20 yrs ago.  My neice just had a baby. Her belly grew big fast. There are many ideas and products as to how to help minimize strech marks. I'm convinced what she used worked.  You know those vitimin e capsols one
can purchase in any food or grocery stores. Health food stores sell this vitimin e liquid without being in capsol form.

Every day, twice a day she rubbed that  thick vitim e oil on her tummy. He husband rubed it on the lower part of her back. Anyone who's been pregnant knows  the weight of the baby pulls the skin down in front and your lower back. Since my neice grew so rapidily her body didn't have much time to strech to accomadate the baby inside her.  Same thing happened to me when i was pregant all those years ago. However  their wasn't alot out their to prevent strech marks.

My sister was 40 yrs old when she became pregant. She used these vitimin e capsols. Her body didn't have as elasticy skin as my 25 yr old niece does.  She applied this vitimin  e same as my neice, and she also never recieved 1 stretch mark.  Coincidence ,, maybe. Just thought i'd put that out there for you to make up your mind.

I'm proud of my stretch marks. But I have heard that Bio oil is the best stuff to help them fade.

Re: Pregnancy And Strech Marks
Good News!! I had body building stretch marks and my wife had pregnancy stretch marks. We used this product http://www.stretchmarktreatment.net and it worked. I have tried so many products and treatments but none really worked. Believe me, this is not marketing talk, I genuinely want to share this information with you guys. I won't make a cent out of this. They have very limited production and eventhough I cannot vouch whether it will work for every single person, it is definitely worth a try. Very reasonable pricing. Best thing, its 30 days money back guarantee!

Vitamin E oil
Vitamin E oil is said to assist with keeping the skin supple, and the relief of scarring etc.  It is definitely worth using oil either from the capsules, or in a more traditional body cream to give yourself a good chance of reducing your stretch marks.  Mainly the likelihood or whether or not you get them is hereditary, depends upon your age, how quickly you gain weight at anytime in the pregnancy etc...

My friend gave me some beautiful body shop cocoa butter in a roll on, it was handy to put on, I used it out of habit every morning.  I was lucky, I got more stretch marks growing as a teenager, than I did in pregnancy, just a couple of wee lines on each side.  I was a walking barrel - 58kg - 82kg, very fat indeed!  I guess I was just predisposed to having good stretchy olive skin...

I've heard that the Vitamin E oil is still helpful to use after pregnancy to reduce the severity of stretch marks too - good luck with it.

Stretch marks are SUCH a bummer!

I had a problem with stretch marks during my pregnancy, but I saw them more in the 3rd trimester than during the first 2.

I used the Palmers with Cocoa Butter, and it didnt do much for me, i used it after every shower... but still they showed up. I wish I had used the Vitamin E oil, I heard it is like wonder tonic for stretch marks.

Should I be blessed with another bundle of joy, that will be one thing i will definatly be doing!! maybe even 3 times a day!!

Thanks for the advise!!

Pregnancy and strechmarks - OH YEAH!
I already have 2 children. My first was 7 pounds 8 oz and then second was 10 pounds 13 oz so stretchmarks were a bit of a worry for me. My sister in law (my lifesaver) bought me some cocoa butter from the body shop in Aus and I swear it saved my body. Not only that but the smell of it was lucious and it gave me all day moisture without being greasy. What little stretch marks I did ne dup with are so minor and unless you really look for them you cant really see them. I am now 10 weeks pregnant with our third child and have already started using my cocoa butter. LUSH!!

Isn't it the best!  Like I didn't think it would work, and really - who knows for sure, but I had hardly a mark on me, and my belly was the best smelling softest thing around!

Interesting
Thanks for sharing this. My Mum had really really bad stretch marks- she only had one child in her early twenties but in her thirties she still bore red jagged marks on tummy and sides. She stressed to me to moisturise with everything and anything I could get my hands on *grin*. I only got 2 small marks with the 1st- and a few more with each of the next preganancies. There will always be vast differences of opinion on this one - but as we can never go back and CHECK what would happen if we tried the opposite method- I figure its worth giving anything a go to improve the quality and texture of our skin. Well done.

Water

I've heard and read that drinking enough water is the only real way to help reduce the amount of stretch marks you get.  The skin's elasticity can only be improved from the inside, not the outside.  Although, I also agree that it is largely dependent on genetics.  Water can help a little.  I still got stretch marks.

what about aloe on the outside and maybe aloe juice to reduce demage on the inside just an idea as i do know that aloe heals skin cell eight times faster than normal and it can be made into a juice so you can drink it.

Tried it all
I tried it all, creams, vitam E, aloe, Palmers, etc. None of them worked and I still had stretch marks all over.  My mom had stretch marks too - I could see the genetics passed on in our family.

stretch marks
I just want to echo some of the opinions so far. Stretch marks is determined by genetics. If you are not designed to get it, you won't get it even if you don't do anything and on the other end, if your genes says you will get stretch marks, it wouldn't matter what you do either. I guess some of the products out there can make the stretch marks look not so bad, but it wouldn't disappear.

Stretch Marks

The appearance or lack thereof of stretch marks is largely determined by genetics. The elasticity of your skin and the way in which your body produces scar tissue are the two biggest factors combined with how quickly your body is forced to expand. Regular moisturizing does help a little, both because of the extra moisture in the skin and the massaging motion which help it to stretch but it does not prevent stretch marks entirely.

I agree
Stretch Marks can be prevented or minimised, I used olive oil, I did get them but they were not red and horrible and I kept up with the oil and don't have them, Vitamin E caps is a great idea, oh and try not to write in Caps its really hard to read

i never used anything
i never used anything and i never got streach marks, also i've been told strech marks are come from streching on the inside and no amount of cream is gonna stop them , your neice wouldn't have got them anyway
